YES!
IMO the entire world map concept should be brought back. So what if its really unrealistic? Realism isn't what I play Final Fantasy for, and I think that probably applies for most FF fans. The world map really helped give the feeling that you were actually in another world and not just a bunch of scenarios linked together. Airships, boats, ships, even chocobos, all these things were used as great ways of unlocking new areas in the world map and allowing for the feeling of exploration, not to mention most of these exploring adventures usually held rewards of all kinds, from skills, to items, to entire characters. Nowadays everything seems way to linear and restricted.

I completely agree with you, Anubis. FF's have definitely been slipping since IX and the loss of the World Map is probably a part of that. After all, the World Map's been perfectly good enough for the people who play Final Fantasy right from I to IX (I can't remember if FF X had a World Map, but I hated that game so I don't really care either).

It didn't, the airship just teleported you to where you wanted to go, everything was linked together so it was possible to just walk across the world, but it just didn't give the same feeling.

You're thinking of the FF XII and FFTA 2 airships. I was talking about the FF III, IV, V, VII, and IX airships. They all got you around the world map faster than walking did.

Yeah probably, I'm personally hoping for an airship/world map in versus. I thought I heard something about that a while back, not sure. But IMO, with Versus being ps3 exclusive (and thereby Bluray exclusive), this excuse is no longer valid.
