AI
(this is alot of rambling.)
i just thought of something that i would love to do when i become a game programer.
AI.
im facinated at the thought of emulating human actions. what interests me even more is combining that with a voice algorithm so you can have the AI talk to you without taking up LOADS of space.
sure, a voice algroithm would start just like humans learned how to talk, you work on it and you can get grunts, squeeks, and different sounds depending on the mood, enviroment, and other conditions of the AI. you could work up to sylabils and have the AI start saying simple phrases ex "I am"
what i hope to do is make what i call an "AI Plugin" it will be a plugin that i will make that will attempt to make the pure reaction and standards of a human, ranging from 3 functions:
1: Combat (as a plugin for a FPS game, would not include many factors to reduce resources used)
2: Personal (used for dialogue, if at all. most likely in an RPG, or story line.)
3: Social (used when combing enviroment into personal, the person will react with the enviroment and say things accordingly)
as with the mind, i will have to start out small, it will just have to:
1: recognize objects
2: determine object
3: evaluate object if it is harmful
4: emotions on object
5: actions on object
vocal involes a few more:
1: recognize object
2: process object for emotions
3: evaluate with intelegnce and personality modifiers
4: react to object
now its not that hard to start an AI program. i could do all of this with a little block that moves around. i could improve it and make it so that the mouse is an object, when the moust is not pressed it is non-dangerious, when it IS pressed it is dangerous.
the HOPE is that i could get the block to take a few hits before he starts avoiding the mouse, if the user is tricky and gets really close before clicking the block will keep its distance from the mouse at all times. (and thus need to sneak up on it if a Line of sight is programmed in)
more tricks can be put in, like holding down the right button makes the block happy if it touches it (by the way, holding down a button will change the color, so you will have a visual interpritation) if done correctly, the block will approach you and become happy, if dont right hopefuly the block will avoid the food if you start clicking on him while making him happy.
im sure all of this has been done before, but its just something i want to do. i want to explore and work on an AI program of the simplest graphics and just improve it in steps making and putting in new parts of AI to make it react accordingly.

you've got quite a big list of ideas there, what are you using to write this in?
And you realise that to accuratly produce an AI system capable of learning it will need an exaustive set of arrays to store all the responses of what it has learnt.

of course, there isint any other way to store so many variables.
