A Poem for You
I posted this in Kari's forum, and I thought I might as well post it here too ^_^;
The Glass Dancer (Second Saga)
The Caged Glass Dancer in us all
Locked again inside these walls
She once had dreams of being free
The Watchers said its not to be
She learns to live inside her cage
While inside a war must wage
To find the captive, set her free
Find the truth in you and me.
The Dancer feared to step outside
The people made her run and hide
But here she can't be kept alive
She must be free for her to thrive
She beats the walls and pulls at bars
No longer is she scared of scars
She hears the battle for her sake
And prays for strength and bars to break
She has fallen and learned to fly
She has broken and learned to cry
The fire slowly burns inside
The fear that was once strong has died.
No longer others keep her in
The longing burns from deep withing
With final cry and desperate clash
The cage falls down and turns to ash
The cage breaks into several parts
And frees the love of many hearts
She stands up and looks around
Her freedom real will now resound
She can dance in her own light
Not waiting for the shadow's bite
Her face is healed and now she shines
Her beauty real and she defines
Her final wish is just to wait
Until she finds a perfect mate
She's been used, made some mistakes
But she trusts in the healing, that love makes
On the wind she works her art
Until her lover finds her heart
On that day of magic charms
She'll be theirs forever, in their arms.

Quite a powerful poem.... The way I see it, not only did these Watchers and others make the cage for the Dancer but she had a hand in making it as well. Only until she built up strength to overcome everything else did the bars finally break and thus reveal the beauty kept inside. (That's just my take).
Really enjoyed the rhyming couplets!

That was a very astute perception ^_^ thank you for your point of view ^_^
Yeah I tried to keep an 8 beat rhythm going ^_^; but sometimes I cheated lol
I enjoyed writing this poem just as much as writing the first saga ^_^ I can't wait to write the third

Where is the first part. I saw it was part 2 but didn't see it here unless I missed it.... I take it the third is still underway for the Dancer to find a lover worthy of her and vice versa?

I like depressing stuff, probably because I am depressed most of the time but partly because most of the really good poetry comes from emotion and being depressed makes the heart ache for something. Thus if one does, they can shape their words into something beautiful.
IF you look at it, Van Goh was terribly depressed but painted masterpieces, many musical artists write their best stuff when depressed or sad.
On the flip side Love is also very powerful! So either end of the spectrum.... Sorry to just start rambling.

No no you are right I have thought that many times myself. Many emotions can bring forth art, but none are so strong as Love, Hate and Depression (the lack of emotion or having deep pain... personal suffering)
I can usually only write out of depression... and I hate it... but I was inspired by someone and out popped that ^_^ I was just happy to be able to draw from happiness for once

Very true. Only knowing depression is... well depressing for lack of a better word.
Happiness is as eluding as the pot of gold at the end of the rainbow, but when you find it, it beats everything else!
I hope I get to read part three when it comes into existence.

Haha... well at the absolute least amount of time it will be 10 months... but I doubt I will find the love of my life and get married the second it reaches the end of my commitment XD
