2D graphic Design Help!
im making a game. a VERY simple game that will be played like a zelda deathmatch kinda game.
im in a group, and i was tasked with making the Player texture and animation.
its a relatively easy task. its going to be a 2D 50x50 sprite from the top down view, animated in 3 directions (left mirrored to right to save time)
anyway, i know there are some people on this forum that are artists. and im wondering if you could offer any tips on how to make a 2D character?
any suggestions for making the process smoother?
any animations i may be missing?
any software you recommend?
so far i know i need to make these images for the animation:
Face Up
Walk up, right foot
Walk up, left foot
Sword attack up
Crossbow attack up (maybe, it could be hidden from this view)
Dagger attack up (maybe, it could be hidden from this view)
Face left
Walk Left, Right foot
Walk Left, Left Foot
Sword attack Left
Crossbow attack Left
Dagger attack Left
Face Down
Walk Down, Right Foot
Walk Down, Left Foot
Sword attack Down
Crossbow attack Down
Dagger attack Down

So novice when it comes to design but there's one software I can recommend. How about Toon Boom Studio? The last one I used was 3.0 version (ancient version I guess), so there should be really cool newer version.
Toon Boom Studio was meant for animation actually, but its very user friendly and can serve as a great software to design your 2D characters...even animate them if you like.
