kinda not the topic to post in for my 1st post back in a while but im watching armageddon week at the moment.
anyway there are so many multiple sources that are making this claim of 2012 and now its actually somwhat backed by science
apparently in 2012 the sun and earth will be aligned with the center milky way and seeing how theres a gaint balck whole in the center there are theories that the earths crust will be moved by the magnetic pull, like the north and south polls whould switch.
this would cause the planet to go off its path and possibly collide with other planets
every prediction cleary talks of the seas overflowing and other water related events occuring
so....not the cherriest of a post but ive been thinking about it for the last lik hour and u guys are the only place i know tht amswers these kinds of things pretty well

ACtually thats happened before in history where the north and south poles switched...I saw this on Nova but recently the magnetic field has been weakening because they're getting ready to switch...aanyway the only thing that'll happen is the magnetic field will shut down temporarily, you'll see the northern lights all across the world, and skin cancer will increase dramaticlly...anyway I honestly think that the earth and sun have been aligned with the center of the galaxy before (because of how old this planet is) anyway...scientists and such like creating mass panics like with the Hadron Collider...the news and scientist only gave the theory that it would destroy the world and we're still here now...and anyway if the world ends it ends there isn't much the human race can do about it...also the 2012 thing is just the end of mayan calendar its being blown way out of proportion...honestly why worry about it we're a doomed race anyway.

The world won't end. Unless I'm much mistaken, it's just the end of the Mayan calendar. The world doesn't end every time you need to buy a new calendar.

...ano...the sun end earth are soooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo far away from the center of the milky way that the sun would have had to collapse and die out before we are even halfway there...
...and even if this were true, alignment has nothing to do with increases and decreases in gravitational force of an "outside" factor...
...also, if the earth were to spin out of control, it would never be on a collision course because the other planets would be pulled the same way at the same velocity (since the gravitational force on all objects are the same)...
...and the seas would not overflow, but just have rougher high and low tides...

...no, studying earth science, I was able to come to the conclusion that the earth's magnetic fields would not "shut down" (we'd be all dead if it did and this happens quite commonly once in every bunch of centuries)...
...the north pole would act like the south pole and vice-versa...the switch does not shut down the magnetic fields because then everything the fields are supposed to keep out and keep in order would screw up and the earth would not live to this day...
...and the Hadron Collider thing...I would like to literally punch out the guy who started all the rumours about it...
...you guys are laughing at people scared of little bugs on the ground...well I'm laughing at you for being scared on something that is 1/100000000000000000 the size of a little bug...seriously people...
