In guild Wars 1, there were dwarfs in the shiverpeaks, and you helped them and defeated some Centaurs along the way. In GW2 there are people called Norns who live in the shiverpeaks, and they are really tall.

The Dwarves mostly died out. There Is at least one Dwarf NPC in GW2 but I heard something about them fighting something and turning themselves into stone. I don't remember much more than that. XD

i was in an event before where i found a tablet saying that the dwarves used something to defeat a dragon but paid "the ultimate price"

that was fun, i just activated the 20% dungeon influence, but tsuki ditched us in the middle of the dungeon...
