I've had a story floating around in my head for the last five and a half years. I've got some sloppy half-assed chopped up hand written pages of it. And lately I've been craving a vent for my creativity. So I've thought about trying to actually write the whole story out, rather than small chunks that I feel like doing at the time. Now, I'm not sure if I really should just try to do it all chronologically and force myself into doing it the "right" way, or if I should, like before, write it up in chunks and bring it all together eventually. I plan on typing it up and keeping plenty of backups this time. Before I only hand wrote because I didn't have access to a computer most of the time that I wanted to write. Now I'm at home at my computer most of the time so that's not a problem anymore.
Just wanted to know what you guys think. About how I should go about doing this, and stuff...
Also, if there's any interest, I might actually post some of what I get done here.

If you post it I will probably read it. ^_^
Teh pinata likes the Writer's Block section. Even if it is the most under-appreciated section of the thread.
Well, since I'm bored out of my mind, I think I'll post a little spoiler of teh plot. (This might be a long post)
First off, this is a fantasy story, with a rather dark theme. And yes, I know it has a lot of cliche things in it, but it is intended to an extent.
The story starts out from the perspective of the protagonist (David, age 24), who's dreams are haunted by flashbacks of his wife's death. Ever since the day his wife was murdered in front of him, he vowed revenge on her killer. Yet still he is haunted by the memory day and night. He wakes up from the nightmare on the day he sets out on his journey. A day he had been planning for for over 3 months.
Characters
This is not actually spoilers XD
Hidden:
The man who killed his wife is quite infamous for being a terror to civilized life. He has burned towns down, and killed anyone who would stand in his way. Yet even as infamous as he is, nobody knows his name, or his motives. He is known also for his dark aura, his evil magics, and his incredible skill with his favored weapon, the battle scythe.
David himself is very much the anti-hero. He only really cares about his life and his close friends. His quest is purely for revenge, he couldn't care less for the lives he might save in executing his target. He is adept with daggers and short swords, and knows a small bit of self enhancing magic. David has two key conflicting personalities, he is generally rational, understanding, and passionate; but he has a darker side that grows within him. He is deeply afraid of his own darkness, and suppresses it with all of his strength. But he knows that someday it will consume him.
Jordan (age 24), David's closest friend, is a very dedicated friend to David. He is a very upbeat yet down to earth kind of guy. He is also a master of many various martial arts, and travels the world seeking new technique, understanding, and discovery. He is a very adventurous person, and spends a lot of his free time wandering the wilderness.
Alice, David's deceased wife, was a very powerful wizard. She died at the age of 25, had she gone on living however, she would now be 26. She was a very intelligent woman, and was very adept at learning new magics. Even at her relatively young age she could heal the wounded, reattach body parts, and even regenerate smaller extremities, like fingers. She also could manipulate fire very skillfully, even though she was so young and majored in healing arts.
This is about all I can give without actually writing out the story or spoiling things.
This part is spoilers major spoilers
Hidden:
First and foremost, the biggest spoiler is the identity of the man who killed Alice. His name is David... The evil warrior is 46 years of age, and developed means of transporting himself backwards along the time-line. In short, the antagonist is the protagonist from the future.
The David from the future learned of something quite disturbing and decided to create this contraption that brought him to the past(or rather, the present). His only true objective is to end his own existence. It might seem like one hell of a way of committing suicide, but it is vital to his plan that he kill himself in the past. His reason is that he discovered that his own existence is trapped inside a time loop, and he believes that he has passed the looping point, and therefore killing himself in his future would not stop the loop. He has to erase his entire existence in order to end it.
There is however, a small twist to this. There are of course others from the future. Most of which traveled back along with David. In short, there are future counterparts for every important character. And one of them in particular is very unhappy with the situation. Her name is Alice... lolomegaspoiler. She is unhappy that David is so obsessed over his mission that he hardly pays her any attention. And she of course is unhappy that he is essentially trying to get himself killed. She, now in the present, decides to disobey David's orders and goes off on a mission of her own. She intends to rewrite the past in some way that will prevent all that has happened. Whether she ends the loop without killing David, or prevents him from ever learning about it.
Oh crap, this is nearing the character limit I think. I'll post more spoilerific stuff later. My mind is running circles right now and I'm hungry.

Yeah, go ahead, I might read it. Though, last time I posted 3 chapters of my work, I didn't get any feedback...
Teh pinata was away while you were posting that stuff.
But she did read some of it, pretty neat, but there were some chapters that she couldn't get to for some reason so she couldn't read on after that.
Teh pinata understands about no feedback because of her Cheeky Demons story, but that is just to be expected here on the forums. people don't post as often as they should anyway and lets face it most people here don't like to really read lots and lots. Post a post to long and they won't read it.
But LJ likes to read.
But he doesn't post much.
Teh pinata likes to read and post and be teh pinata.
When her mean and icky little brother isn't trying to kick her off the internet saying that she is lagging out his X-Box live connection.
Teh pinata will get back around to Cheeky Demons. She pours her heart into it, regardless of feedback or no feedback, she is finishing it. She will also try again to get to the place that your story thread tells me to go to read it.
