Fallout 3
I saw some posts requesting a review for this so here it is.
Fallout 3 is based on a kind of alternate reality where 50's culture remained into the future and at some point (they do give you dates but i cant remember any of them) there is a war between america and china that results in a nuclear holocaust. Before the bombs fell america built shelter caulled 'vaults' that protected people from the holocaust. You grew up in vault 101 with your father, where it is impossible to enter or leave . When you are 19, your father somehow leaves the vault and you follow him out into the post apocalyptic wasteland, thus your journey begins to find your father and explore this new outside world.
As would be expected from the makers of elder scrolls, the second you leave the vault you are completely free to do whatever you want you dont have to follow the story, you can simply roam the wastes looking for adventure, you could set up in one of the settlements, scavenging scrap and selling it to the locals, or you could become a raider striking fear into the residents of the wasteland, it really is completely up to you. With this in mind the game has massive longevity, you could spend months just exploring the map finding cool things and playing with the menagerie of mutant beasts, super mutants and raiders that make their home in the wastes. If however you choose to follow the story quests and nothing else, you will find the game rather short and unrewarding, so it pays to do the side quests and explore the land.
Overall the game is easy to get used to, the control system is typical of most FPS games and the Leveling system is also simple, you have a set of skills representing your ability to do things like fire small arms, barter with merchants, and pick locks. every level you get a number of points to assign to these skills. You also have perks, perks do a wide variety of things from improving your stats to unlocking conversation options with certain NPCs. One of the most innovative things i find about this game however is the V.A.T.S. system which pauses the game and allows you to set up a string of actions for your character to perform (mostly shots from your gun) when you lock in your actions the game will resume in slow motion and your character will make the shots you've allocated often resulting in gory slow-mo decapitations and dismemberments so squeamish people beware.
All in all this game is epic and brilliantly done, I'm hard pressed to find any faults with it.

I'm at a loss for words here man. That just sold me the game.
One question though, what platforms is it available for? (Oh please god tell me there is a PC version)

Hmm, any idea how much HD space it will take? I'd like to have room on my PC before I go buying the game.

10 gig? hmm, expected more, but I'm not complaining.
I recently got Dragon Age, and that took up 20 gig after patches and whatnot. I'll have to look into Fallout then. Just after I'm done being addicted to creating guns in Borderlands.
