We are not significant in the grand scheme of existence, no. That's quite obvious considering how miniscule we are compared to, oh I don't know, everything. But that is only one kind of significance. Will the sun rise tomorrow for Jupiter if I die tonight? Yes. Will the sun rise tomorrow for my friends and family if I die tonight? No.
These types of questions cannot be answered in absolutes. Are we significant? Yes and no.
As for the known facts about God, me, I've met him. I drowned when I was a toddler, was dead for quite a while (around 12 minutes) The ensuing story upon my awakening three days later is unbelievable, which is why I don't even bother telling it any more. All my life I've had him in my ear, I don't always listen, but he's always whispering... well... that's not true... sometimes he's screaming his head off

Hmm... I'll still have to say that as of this moment in history, there are no convincing points to put toward humans being a significant part of the universe. I fail to find one.
The closest I could think is, smashing of the atom and maybe we might know how the universe works (not really but well accepted theories are better than nothing I guess).
I think, until we understand everything on earth, the universe is just too much, too far out there to even begin to comprehend how we could possible fit and be purposeful in it.
What would be some of your points to go toward your statement?
Which one, first or second?

I personally understand and believe in experiences with God and have experienced them as well, but the fact of the matter is, though such experiences are good enough for a person to believe for themselves, this is only subjective evidence and there is, in fact, no objective evidence of the existence of any deity. In all actuality, I would try to hide/destroy any objective evidence of the existence of God if I found any, mainly because my beliefs put free will in high regard, and any objective evidence would put free will and choice in jeopardy.
But in regards to proving or disproving, the burden of proof lies on the one asserting a particular idea. Therefore the idea that you can't disprove it is not enough to be a valid argument for something. But I see that humanity has great potential, if we don't destroy ourselves before that potential is reached. Are we significant? No. Could we become significant?
Who knows? I gave up on trying to make predictions about things. I am awful at it.
