is that even possible? -.- all you have to do is go around the library and find the volumes/books that are out of place, for example finding an ancients book in the weapon research section...that'll give you the letters that form the major's secret word -.-

...that doesn't give you numbers...though it doesn't give you the word right away either. you find the misplaced volumes, then you check the major's possible answers, all the letters from the correct answer are in the first letters of the titles of the volumes...honest, it's true. however, i've only guessed correctly once XD and there's a save point at the shin-ra building entrance, don't know if you can already use the good lift there, the ones that goes from bottom to top....there's also another save point in a gym inside the shin-ra building, don't know if it's before or after that floor...i need to play the game again -.-

OOOOOoooohhhhhh.... There's a number associated with each volume... I always thought it had something to do with the numbers... makes perfect sense now...
Shinra Gym save is the next floor up and I didn't remember the save on the bottom floor.
