erm i got to disagree with you on that. The bible is doing much good these days. It tops the best seller lists every year and nothing beats it.
Also shun, you may be gifted with supreme intelligence but not everybody knows whats right and wrong like you. For me, i always encounter something new whenever i flip through the bible.

It hasn't been in the best-selling lists for ages. Certainly not in the UK anyway. Even celebrity biographies outsell it.
It may do some good but also causes some bad when people misinterpret certain verses in there. Personally, it was reading the bible which made me realise just how stupid I was for believing it. It's as ridiculous as the story behind Scientology and less amusing, in my opinion. Certainly contains nothing new, not to mention the large numbers of translation errors, i.e. the number of the beast is not 666, it's 616.

Well Lord J, i am not sure of the position in UK but the Bible is the best-selling book in America. Despite the fact that most Americans already have a copy, it is estimated that the Bible sold 25 million copies each year. [figures were taken from New York Times]
On top of that, it is estimated that the Bible sold at least 2.5 - 6 Billion copies [according to Businessweek] Also, in a book entitled 'The Top 10 of Everything 2002' written by a British author Russell Ash, reiterated the fact that Bible is the best seller too.
With these figures, i don't think that it hasn't been in the best-selling lists for ages. With estimated billion of copies sold, celebrity may never outsell them anytime soon.

Hahah, good can be in many form.
Anw, you may think badly of the bible (im being neutral here), the reality is, many people rely on it and live their lives according to the words of God. Many of them are really nice people so i don't think it is harmful or anything. In some way, it can be good.

If you brain-washed everyone into buying a bible, it would be a best seller.. You could also brain wash everyone into reading a book named "Poop".. Best selling doesn't make it good.. just popular..
And popular isn't good either.. Brittany Spears is/was popular and look what she did to the common teen girl? Turned them all a bit sluttish. >.>
Besides, the Bible has been edited too many times and has too many versions. The Original Bible maybe one of the best books, but the now-days versions are just to oppose the faith onto newcomers.

Well ppl read/buy bible for various reasons ranging from research to religious purposes. That is why it is the best seller. Brain washing people may be a contributive factor but statistically wise, it will still be a best seller even if we dont brain wash everyone into buying a bible,
Hm...interesting, best selling doesnt make it good. that is one way to look at it. It can also be the case whereby it is good therefore it sells well.
It is true that the bible has been edited many times or translated into various language, i'm pretty sure that the original spirit of the word of God is still there.
