Civil War 2
I think you can pretty much guess what this will be about but I wanted some thoughts. My entire World Religions class were talking and this came up about the possibility of a second civil war in America. We weren't really serious but it got me thinking what if it did happen so I wanted to ask you guys do you think its possible and what do you think would start it?

good question..
I believe if the country were to experience a second civil war, it would be because a majority of the country had lost all faith in the people that run our country. Meaning something seriously horrible is going to have to happen. Extreme Corruption of Authority would be the only thing I can think of that would spur such a radical shift in peoples opinions and beliefs. I don't so much think religion will play any role, based on the fact that most people can accept the fact that you or me can believe in something without my beliefs effecting your own.

could we consider the rise of a zombie population to fall into the civil war category since they were once one of us?
to be more serious, a corrupt gov would indeed start a civil war but i cant see a govt that corrupt letting everyone know about it. I mean... they have tons of money to bribe people with. or just "take care of them".
more to the point, a govt dumb enough to show how corrupt it is deserves to be over thrown with as much violence as possible.

A corrupt government will eventually be found out. It may take 100-1000 years, but we will find out eventually. You can't hide forever, corruption! It will just take us at least an entire lifetime and at most a millinia!
On another note, a civil war could start because of two different organizations. One of them being PETA(People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals) and the other being the one that I will eventually start known as PETP (People for the Ethical Treatment of Plants). It will literally be a Vegitarians versus Meateater Civil War just like in a really old cartoon I once saw. lol
But a serious other thing that could cause a Civil War is other country affairs. If for some reason there was a war between two countries that the United States got interested in, and some wanted us to back one side, and some wanted us to back another, if the people had enough heart into such a war, then that could cause a Civil War. Still, this is unlikely, because we as Americans pride ourselves in not giving a crap about other countries besides our own.

That sounds about right.
In my opinion though, it would take an incredibly large issue to cause something as big as a second Civil War. If it is going to happen, I doubt it will happen with in any of our life times.

Actually the war in Iraq isn't a civil war at least the soldiers against the Iraqi's but the Shiite's and the Suuni's fighting each other can be considered a civil war

Well put! Well put indeed! Problem being: There are some people who just cannot be reasoned with. This may or may not be the case about Iraq, I don't know, but that is the only justifiable cause for war in my eyes.

here's an Idea. is it possible that race in the upcoming elections might divide the American citizens? I've already had people label me a racist because i refuse to vote for Obama, even though I tend to lean towards the Democratic side. (which btw, has nothing to do with the color of his skin, but more to do with the fact that he basically doesn't have the experience I deem appropriate.)

Possible. Not likely though. People tend to not give a crap nowadays. (BTW I also refuse to vote for Obama, mainly because what I believe to be a fruedian slip that he said last night at the presidential debate: "That's not true, Your Honor." I lol'ed, but seriously, that means he must have something to hide. Or I am paranoid. Eh, I needed SOMETHING to decide which one to vote for. I don't like either candidate.)

Nah. Bigots aren't a large enough group. None of the groups are large enough to cause a Civil War.
