beta's like woah!
So today they announced the socom confrontation open beta would start on sept 1st and end on sept 30th. sweet deal. if you pre-order from gamestop and give them your email they will send you a code to get the beta annnnd you get to invite two friends (pretty cool).
also, they put up a playstaion Home theme on psn today and by downloading it and using it once you are entered into maybe getting into the playstation home beta which will also start in sept.
supposedly, your activity on your ps3 will be the factors they use to select those that will get into the Home beta. So if you dl stuff off the store and play games online you prolly have a better chance.
anyway, pretty cool
(oh and... i think if you get this months ep of qore (put on psn today as well) you will also get a spot in the resistance 2 beta... though im sure they will have a similar gamestop pre-order deal too so no worries there)

oblivious to what?
the whole 360 side of games? actually, they other day i saw a great deal it was a 360 elite with hdmi cables and forza 2 and something else for 299... but of course it was a mistake and they fixed it in like 2 min so i was out of luck. =(
and its more like sony is finally getting around to some good stuff... the kind of stuff they should have had from the start.

exactly, the PS3 is like a teenage girl, it takes some time before the good stuff comes in....
hrm...
... um but anyways, that is interesting how sony can directly use information on how often you game to move you up in participating in betas. i love that idea it would make participating in the beta of a game mean something again!

well of course i haven no idea about any of the specifics. like i dont know if 'folding @ home' is considedered or machine on time...
point in fact, im not sure if anyones psn account recognizes if someone is watching a blu-ray, so i dont know if that would go into it either.
im guessing it comes down to pure game usage which makes the most sence and also your psn store activity.

double post blah blah.
so the socom beta is out now.
to sum it up... its a beta. it doesnt ahve the polish the final product will. today is the first day and depending on the server and ppl in a game, you can easily get a 8v8 round going with no lag problems. a different server and a 16v16 game is a different story. the socom online team already posted saying they are dealing with heave server strain (which is the point of the beta) and it should be solid by the end of next week.
If you get a group of people that are into the game, you can have a crazy amount of fun.
and night games are crazy. you dont see them till you see the muzzle fire.
