On Tuesday morning, Sony announced their latest addition to the PlayStation Network: Qore. Described by the company as a "hi-def gaming lifestyle show," Qore will provide behind-the-scenes clips, developer interviews, concept art, screenshots, and downloads for several games each month.
Every episode of Qore will cost $2.99, or fans can shell out $24.99 for a thirteen-episode subscription
Sony hopes that most viewers won't mind the brief commercial interruptions, as they plan to make sure the commercials are focused on products they believe their audience will be interested in.
Games for the first episode, releasing this Thursday, include Soul Calibur IV, Afro Samurai, SOCOM: Confrontation, Secret Agent Clank, and Star Wars: The Force Unleashed. Subsequent episodes will be released on the first Thursday of every month.
Sony promises that each episode of Qore will have hidden easter eggs. The first episode features a simple arcade game of some sort. Qore will be connected to Home in some way when that service launches.
Fans will probably care more about Qore-exclusive downloads than the video content itself. The first episode, for example, will feature an invitation for the SOCOM beta.
so... i kinda saw this coming... and i guess its no different than a watered down video mag. Ill probably get the first issue for the Socom beta but thats it.

Hmm... I will have to look into this but how will they stop people from releasing this over the net.... All you need is a capture device and volia free Qore for everyone although someone will have to shell out 24.99
The commercials better be for games and only games! I don't wanna see "come play the new McDonald's game of 'Guess what filler we used to use in our burgers!'"

yeah, i never thought about the capture card. videos aside, the game demo and whatever else they add that isnt in the store will probably get put on the internet as well... unless they each have a unique download number thats stored on the original system or something....
i kinda just wanna be in the socom confrontation beta lol. me and a buddy used to play socom all the time. we were a pretty bad@ss team.
that reminds me. come midnight, i wonder if the first episode will be avalible... ill prolly get it right away and post my thoughts on its content and if its worth it. spending $3 right now isnt that big a deal lol.

i know i know. but its optional and only a selection. clearly not many people are going to pay for it unless its something they cant get on the web (which is hard to believe)
and we still get to play mp on all games free.
but yeah. its clearly a step in the direction they said they werent going in. its sony... i saw it coming lol.

well the qore is like a video mag so its only gonna have select videos and id imagine one unique demo per "episode" everything else in the store, video and demo wise is still free.

yeah Thor, Sony actually allows you to play you're multi-player games for free like they were meant to be (A little too fanboyish?)
I just dislike the fact that I got to some get these 1 month free passes to access my Halo 3 account! I don't own a 360 but play on my friends so it isn't fiscally sound for me to buy a gold membership without a 360... bah! I think Microsoft should just go Playstations way with multi-player games being free and pay for whatever else!

anyway... does anyone else take like 8 hours to dl things. im only at 22% (the qore is 1.53 gb) and i started welll.... when i made that other post. so about 2 hours its been now.
ugh.
also, they put up a free demo for the new civilization game. ill get that once qore finishes too.

I actually like the idea, I just wished I had a credit-card (OR that Sony would hurry up and release their PS-points - or whatever it's called - payment system in EU... would make my life easier ).

that money goes to making sure that you can always play your game online, and it will always be lag free.
that is something that no free online service can guarantee.
