you think final fantasy:mystic quest was an experiment?
well there was loads of features in it that never appeared in ff again, like being able to attack outside of battles and jump. and not being able to move on the world map.(you just pressed what direction you wanted to go and your character automaticly went there himself) not to mention the thing that lets your allies fight themselves without your help(auto mode) there was a load of stuff that just disapeared. i replayed it recently and i just thought,"this really seems like something square released to see what kind of thing the fans want, get some *." no doubt it was a great game but it did seem like an experiment dont you guys think?

yeah but ff:mystic quest was so long ago and they scrapped most of the ideas until now. they didnt appear in the ffs between now and then because they scrapped em. and lets face it,these new gameplay features for FF:12 are only in there because square merged with enix. only very stupid people would fail to see whats been happening since the merge.theyre clearly trying to 'jazz up' final fantasy. im not for it to be honest,i mean look at ff:x-2.

Well Mystic Quest was a spin off so they could try other things in it.
Besides i think it was aimed mainly at the American/European market which is probably why they added some of the platform/action type things like jumping and striking out of battle. Plus supposedly why they dumbed it down and made it shorter and easeir to navigate cos they dont think we westerners had the attention span for a full RPG
(back then anyway)

I didn't actualy see mystic quest as dumbed down untill now, thanks Blackened.
There where lots of things in it that I didn't expect to see again, the attacks out of battles for instance(It allowed you to shirk on so many battles simply by cutting a path around) or the low max level(41 is such a crude number to call it quits at), but I always hoped other features would return, your freinds auto attack(since attacks went in before the first attacker was determined this was invalubvle since your ally always knew when to heal or cure status effects) or being able to jump(and not the contex sensitive version of X2 either).
