cowards
there has been a lot of talk about the puppy being thrown (which is completely overblown in my honest opinion in comparison to far far far sicker videos out there if you search) but what of the disgraceful abuse of people that we see in internet videos at times.
there are a fair few videos of people being beaten up (for no reason) while people do little or nothing to help. do you believe we live in times where there is far too much cowardice by onlookers who wont help?
id most certainly like to believe id help someone in need, but obvioulsly nobody truly knows til the situation arises. anyone have any stories or incidents of their own?

i totally agree with you dude!
there is a mass of cowardice in the world now,
i have helped people out in tough situations before, and id like to think they'd help me!
but the truth is, we live in a society where if a person is being raped, they should shout "fire" as people will come to see it, whereas if they shout rape, theyre most likely to be abandomned by onlookers!

it's been on tv as an issue as well, the so called "happy slapping" is probably what you meant, where kids run up to someone, beat him/her up, and run away again
usually put on videos to put on youtube...
people standing by and just looking at it, nobody actually calling them to stop...
i know i'd call em to a stop though, this one time a kid was beeing beaten up in school, and i just went there and took him with me, so they'd stop
another time i kicked someone trying to rob my mom's wallet off her back, and ran after him till he got in a car and drove off

well, i already noticed the guy was planning something, he kept walking behind our car while we were filling up the fuel, so i went into the car expecting he'd try to steal it...
then, when my mom paid, he suddenly ran to her, tried grabbing the wallet, and i just opened the door of the car, ran towards him and kicked him off, it wasn't the fact it's my mom, i'd do it for anyone realy...
and you're all right, the world is currently in a state of cowardice, people are afraid to tell what they think because they can get beaten up for it, for instance, if people are standing at a busstop, kicking the trashcan, saying "Can you stop that please?" can end you up in a hospital...
my brother told me that when he'd just look at someone for a few seconds by looking around or whatever, he'd get to hear "What are you looking at?" and when he tries to make a normal conversation while waiting for the bus, about the weather for instance, he'll get to hear "Mind your own buisness"
people are agitated too easily these days, and the good people become cowards because of it...

i have stepped in and stopped a few fights at school and stuff like that back in the day but that was when i was in a lot better shape no one would mess with me not so true any more. but i think the reason why people don't step in is b/c they are afraid that by doing something they become the victim you stop someone from stealing and they pull out a knife or a gun and know your dead for what a few dollars same with stopping some one from being raped if there willing to rape someone in the open they are just as likely to attack you for trying to stop it. that being said i still jump in and help out where i can.

i agree with erik, and i sorta recognize it too, when i ran after the guy that tried stealing my mom's wallet, i suddenly stopped running after him when he got in the car realising he could have a gun in there...
i'd still jump in any time to help someone, partly because i'm not afraid of death, and other, because it's the right thing to do...
people that could have stopped someone but didn't will live the rest of their lives thinking "if only i would have..."
in the end, i wont be able to say that, cause i actually did it!

Sometimes people won't help because they don't want to get caught in the crossfire I remember there was this girl and a bunch of guys had drug her into the bathroom and were trying to rape her and I was the only one who tried to stop them but I woke up three weeks later in the hospital because they nearly beat me to death.

and at least you tried... that must feel a lot better as not have tried at all

...I don't think there has been a time in the last 5000 years where ther was no cowardice at all, some people were born with a mind like that, while others (some 2000-3000 years ago) were actually trained to kill and go berzerk so a society and clan will win during a fight...a few people back then viewed kindness as a weakness and I think a few people still do today...

loads of people still think beeing kind is beeing weak...
others might think caring gives a reason to fight, and having a reason will make you succeed...
realy depends on how you're brought up...
