hmm 
its been a while. its possible to draw and use gravity from him which helps i believe. he is tough to beat when you first get him if you arent strong enough, may be best to wait a little and grow stronger before facing him.

Anyway, if you still need tips on Diablo..well here is how its done. You still have those Wizard stones you gained after beating the bug boss in Balamb Garden? Use Fire-RF (Ifrit's ability) to turn them into 80 Firagas, I'm sure you've junctioned Ifrit onto Squall since Ifrit has the highest compatibility for Squall. Junction that 80 Firagas (try to win some cards which can be refined into Wizard stones - you'll need Quezacotl's Card Mode ability though) onto Squall's STR and he should be seriously doing some damage.
Don't spend refining the wizard stones or Tents (bought from shop) for Curaga to junction onto HP stat since Diablo has Gravija and Demi ability, you can do that after beating Diablo though. But if you insist, just junction 100 Curagas onto HP (for some 3k HP boost) - do this one other character which I recommend to be Zell.
Diablos has 3 main attacks - A normal physical attack that usually deals around 200 damage, Demi spell which reduces HP by percentage of a single character, and Gravija which reduces all characters HP by a certain percentage (by 75% if I'm notmistaken). Demi and Gravija will not kill your characters, since they only reduce the amount of HP by percentage...so they get weaker and weaker gradually. The only problem is the Normal physical attack it'll use, note that it uses the physical attacks often IF you summon GFs (counter GF mode). So, try not to summon any GFs during this battle as Diablos hates any other GFs lol. Just be careful of Diablos using his physical attack after reducing your characters HP (Gravija,Demi), though the it
rarely uses the physical attack. First of all, draw Demi from Diablos and cast it back on Diablos and it'll dealt over 1000 of damage. After this, concentrate on regular physical or limit break
attacks since Demi's spell damage would be pathetic based on how low is Diablos HP. Take advantage of the HP reduction, by a single Gravija all your characters should be able to use their limit breaks. Follow in this order, activate Selphie's Slot and search for Full-Cure
and select it. After this, you must do this quickly! Activate Squall's Renzokuken before or while Selphie is casting her limit break (before the Slot menu appears), forget about Zell since Squall has the Firagas and the highest attack on the party. Also, try not to Draw from it often since yourequire good MAG stats to draw from it. So, eventually you're dealing massive damage while healing all party members HP to the max by using this Selphie Squall combo. Just follow this cycle
again and again, whenever Diablos uses his Gravija spell. A couple of Renzokuken and Demi reduction should defeat it.

another point, thats seems to have been forgotten: at times, diablos uses curaga. however, i have never once seen him (im assuming) use it on himself. perhaps theres a trigger involved?

Right, I forgot about that one actually. Diablos uses Curaga on itself when you cast a spell from drawing. Means you draw a spell from the monster and cast it back on the user, since Diablos only have Demi spell so if you draw and then cast Demi on Diablos - it'll use Curaga.

hmm, strange how they got it to use it on party members only though... (which is another point, the power of demi can go up or down 25%ish when you drawcast)
