i really want to play them...but like the tomb raider games, the idea of going back to the original and dealing with those graphics doesnt appeal...especially when i still have ff12 to get.

I know the feeling man, unless i really really enjoyed a game, i hardly ever go back and replay. altho i am in the process of replaying FF2 all over:) btw, i bought FF12, played it for about an hour, didn't like it. for some reason it just didn't have that FF feel for me. maybe i'm just weird...
as for Silent Hill... if i still had my copy i'd probably break it out, just for old times. one of the few games that actually gave me chills when i played it.

lol..i need to complete ff1 still, then move onto 2 - but okami and the prospect of buying ff12 has stalled me.
i have heard that from a few people actually, that 12 doesnt have the same ff feel to it, and by the looks of it i think i would agree.
by the way, is it best to play the original silent hill before playing the sequels? (cus resident evil games can be played in any order really)

silent hill is awsome, so is resident evil they both have an atmosphere that keeps you on the edge. Problem is some of the Silent hills are a little too easy, Like Silent Hill 4; The Room. I beat the game using main close combat weapons (I used the pistol once to see what it was like) I even stuck with the steel pipe till i got the spade.
But otherwise they are awsome

i'm a HUGE silent hill fan. And you really dont' need to play the first one first. I started with 4 and it made me fall in love with the whole series. 1 and 3 have alot in common but you can play 2 and 4 without having played the first. those are my favorites out of the series anyway. Technically Origins for the PSP has the very very beginning of the story. so you can always try going with that one.

I have Silent Hill 3, played for a few while and kinda left it alone. I find the movement controls and the camera angle suck, they should make it like 3rd person shooter DMC or at least FF7 DOC.
If it wasn't cause of the movement controls and camera angle, I'd would be another fan of this game.

I think the silent hill games are awesome. It doesn't have as much of the action aspect that Resident Evil has, but it makes up for it with its creepiness, gore, and overall style.
