Do you want tips? Erm..
equip several equipments with the same ability on, turn ability up on too to maximise ability learning.
Also when you reach Oeilvert, use Amarant, Quina, Zidane and Freya, their abilities aren't affected by the anti-magic field (well except Quina's blue magic).

That's FF IX, not XI. 
I would get XI but it's pay-to-play which sucks which to me means that the game's not worth getting.
