ya both death note movies SUCK big time. I was all like OMG OMG OMG OMG I AM ABOUT TO WATCH THE GODDAMN MOVIE! And I was so dissapointed afterwards.
And ya, Gust, Lighto should have died like a real psycho. This is the problem with the Japs, you see. Just like they made Sephiroth the ULTIMATE BAD GUY of all times and then he died after Cloud made one swing with his sword... like cooome ooooooon

...the ending sucked...i mean, i knew light was gonna die, he just couldn't live on, create his big fancy *perfect* world and be the god, it was kind of silly...but he should have died in a different way...not just a heart attack -.- there should've been lots of blood and stuff

What he got shot full of bullets before he died or at least thats what I saw on Youtube he was actually supposed to live for 15 minutes longer before he actually died then Ryuk took pity on him and killed him so he wouldn't feel any pain.

Kinda... I loved the ending because I didn't see it comming. Death Note was REALLY GOOD at coming up with twists and turns.
Anyways, Light got out-smarted, and did run quite far with multiple gunshot wounds. O.o But Ryuk told Light in the beginning that he'd be the one to write Light's name in his death note. He was keeping his word, not so much pity.
You can even hear Ryuk talking about "If they caught you, you'd be thrown in jail. Who knows how long it would take for you to die." Ryuk was more like impatient. :p
