Haha wait till right after you defeat that boss and you will really have problems with the next enemy  I didn't find it that difficult since all FF games use the same formula I know that it is best to level up early in the game so I am always strong enough. That desert is huge so if you take a few hours to explore it you will be sure to gain levels and LP to make you strong enough.
If that doesn't work for you, I am not sure how your gambits are setup but I have Fraan use cura one everyone who is less than 60% health and if she runs out of MP I give her an ether and just keep fighting away.

its takes some 13k lp to get everything on the board. that doesnt count quickenings or espers.
thats possible right? not toooooo outragious i dont think... i hope lol.

I wish I had never left the first mines so soon. All of those skeletons respawning next to the save crystal added up a lot of points quickly.

sence i beat it i took it back and got my money back lmfao.....good things to do that i did
get QUICKENINGS AS SOON AS YOU CAN......each quickening a player gets doubles your MP bar
example: 150mp....after one quickening-300 ........after 2 quickening-450.....after 3 quickening-600......after that it pretty much is cake through the rest of the game
also...save up money till you can buy the double LP item...and equip that on your whole team...1 on each person....by the time i got even close to being in Empire teratory i had all the powerups like battle lore and ect.....
then when you get to the empire teratory you can buy double exp item....buy 3.... then equip them to whoever is in your fighting party...and the double LP items on whoever is in your reserve.....the results....fighters will get double exp and people who are not fighting will stock up on LP REAL FAST....
quickenings.....double lp and double exp accorys...made the game easy as crap...didnt even use quickenings...cuz they sucked...just learned them for the bonus MP reward for learning them

i alternate between two saves. its worked on every ff game ive ever played. this way i never get "stuck"

although i didnt use it the eksir berry supposedly helps out a lot
btw funender, i never power level and the fights are still beatable for me, im sure you can also do the same
