Most useful job+ability
Challenge one: if you got to choose one job and one ability, which combination would be best suited to survive the game?
Rules: you can choose any job except normal (which is not job) and Mimic. You can choose any ability except mimic. You can only use one character.
I go first with a non-obvious choice - a Ninja with Equip Ribbons. (I will post a motivation later on.)
Challenge two: if you got to choose one job (except normal) and could only use Fight, Item and abilities from that class, which combination would be best suited to survive the game?
I think Samurai would be an interesting chioce. Swordslap is useful but GP Rain and Slash are very powerful.
Ok, let's hear it people, no fun if it's only me 
Special (virtual) bonus points awarded to those who choose first-crystal jobs! (with motivations, of course)

At the low, low, low low, low level that I'm at I'd say the best job is Red Mage...If that's what you mean. And Black Magic Rules!
Did I mention that I was at a low level? Cuz I really am.

True, red mages are quite powerful in the beginning. Not being able to use half of the white and black magic spells is a problem later in the game, though. But you forgot something...

I would suggest Red Mage with X-Magic to answear challenge two and Red Mage with any magic skill to increase magic power, Dimen level 5 for example.

(In the version I played the job is called Mystic Knight and the ability 2-Handed.)

Um, 2-handed is the ability that allows to to hold a weapon in two hands increasing the attack power of an attack, right?
The ability i'm reffering to is the one gained for "mastering" Ninja and allows you to equip two weapons

um you know what both are good choices.
the thing with samurai's gp toss is that you need gp lol u need to play a lot
but still it IS the strongest (isnt it?) power. so yes i think that would be a good choice for your challenge
ps: i loved alchemist's abilities.
i think this was the FF system i liked the most

The two best I can think of:
Ninja with X-attack (8 attacks woohoo!)
White Mage with Doublecast (Can attack AND heal, and can do it twice!)
As for the other challenge, I think a Hunter with X-attack rules. Either use the Chicken Knife or a bow, and you can do lots of damage!

A monk with Chakra would be the best in my opinion...not that I've given a character the monk job then left them as a monk the whole way through...

Monk started to fade away after you get lots of better jobs...they started strong but they are stagnant...means they never get stronger....
