CES Challenge

Anyone trying this other than me? It's pretty hard.

Basically, it's where you can only get Celes, Edgar, and Setzer in the world of ruin. THAT'S IT. You have to beat the game with just those three characters, and you are denied access to some of the best items and spells such as Ragnarok, Ultima, Cure3, and Life3.

So I'll be working on this for the next few days, what with my Winter Break coming up. Wink

And I don't know...maybe if you find me a game for VisualBoyAdvance or something, IN ENGLISH because I want to experience another language for once, I might try the challenge there and use the recording feature to show you.

I should probably put it up on YouTube as well if I'm gonna do that. Razz

Now I'm quite far into it....

I have the Imp Armor set for Edgar (so he can become an Imp and have kickass defense and magic defense as well as evasion and magic evasion) and also the Dragon Horn and Dragoon Boots (so he can hit 2 to 4 times per jump). He also has the Imp Halberd, which has, like, the highest attack, I think, in the game. This means every time he jumps, he comes down 2 to 4 times at once with 6000-7000 (at the moment) damage.

Setzer rules. I'm now going to use him for the normal game too. With Offering and BlackBelt, and Fixed dice, he can hit for up to 40000 damage per turn, not to mention whenever he gets hit by a physical attack, which can potentially make him attack four times again for up to 40000 damage. Now THAT is what I call a powerhouse!

Celes...is incomplete. She has the Enhancer sword to increase Magic, and has the economizer (wow, it took SO long to get that thing) so has to only pay 1 MP to cast any spell, and can cast Flare and Meteor, the two most powerful spells in the CES challenge, she still doesn't have the Gem Box, so can't doublecast. Darn it, the other two have awesome abilities, but they're useless in the Fanatics' Tower! Razz

That's where I am now.... Wink

If anyone wants info on how to get all that stuff (minus the imp stuff and economizer, which take forever to get) pretty early (substitute imp halberd with Pearl Lance for Edgar), then ask me via PM. Except, I might have to find some sort of translator to get the English names for the monsters I fought for the Imp stuff and economizer (if you want to know), as I used the Japanese version of the game.

Funny, that I'm actually getting more done in this challenge than in the main version.... Razz

Youīd also like to have some Snow Mufflers and all the Imp equipment, that way youīll get to 255 def, and the Brachosaurs will hit you with their physical hits... Let me guess... 1 Laughing

Actually, most physicals hit with 0 by now...my imp Edgar is INVINCIBLE! Especially because he's not on the ground most of the time anyways. Wink

I'M AT KEFKA! I GOT THERE! I'm about to fight him right now!

EDIT: I beat Kefka...but he was really really easy. I beat him twice in a row, without ever losing. Though I lost Setzer both times at the exact same place, and had to fight Kefka without him...stupid insta-kill retaliations...but Edgar's Jump attack, which always hits Kefka at the start of battle (BEFORE HE EVEN SPEAKS ZOMG!) combined with Celes's Flare - Quick - Flare - Flare - Flare- Flare sequence (with double cast, of course) he went down pretty darn fast.

But gawd, the Dragon's Den is frickin impossible! I can't fight insta-kills and attacks which make me kill myself if I only have one person! frustrated

Whoaa... I never hit Kefka before he speaks XD

I think that the hardest bosses are:
-Air Force (or w/e the monster that you fight before entering the floating continent)
-Atma Weapon (the one at the floating continent)
-Chadarnook (the stupid painting you fight for getting Relm ><)
-Magimaster, might be easy if you use Berserk on him and cast Life 3 in your characters, but it isnīt easy if you donīt Razz
-The Magic Statues, (all of them) Poltergeist has a good ammount of HP, uses some disturbing skills, but I think itīs the easiest of them. Doom... I hate him, he uses Force Field, N. Cross, and some other horrible skills Evil or Very Mad. Goddess, hate her... You fight with her with a Side Attack, so you canīt heal your whole party unless you use Espers, but she attacks every party member, turns them into Zombies and makes you attack yourself... Along with some damaging skills... Hate her.
-The White Dragon you fight at the Magic Tower... Itīs hella crazy, uses Pearl several times in a row and you can only use magic to beat him.

Maybe there are some others... But I only remember these ones, that pissed me off Mad

Lol...two of the statues were easy. Goddess would have been hard, except I had the Ribbon on and I think I was lucky enough to avoid any attacks which it couldn't stop, if she had any. Good ol' Setzer's Quadruple Fixed Dice Roll does so much damage, I wouldn't know. Wink

Yeah, I thought so too, until I realized Mute works on him. Then he's so helpless, it's funny beating his arse.

And by the way, speaking of the tower, yeah, the MagiMaster is a pain, but only because he takes so long. I just used Rasp to take his MP down so he couldn't use Ultema, while casting berserk on him and Invisibility on my people. It was surprising when he died as soon as he lost his MP...I was like Shocked .

And yeah, I don't know, there's something weird about that Jump attack when using an Imp. Something really screwed up....

Lol... Setzerīs Fixed Dices are awesome... And she had that stupid attack when she said "Protect me!" and she was kind of... cursing

And casting Mute on the White Dragon... Was kind of smart... And funny lol

I knew about using Rasp on the Magimaster... But itīs so long that I have another awesome strategy:
-Equip a sword with Celes, and use Runic (if you can) Then kill him with an Esper, and heīll give some MP to Celes XD

I just tried Kefka again (I keep a saved file for that because it's so fun kicking Kefka's arse) and, well, unlike the first two times, Setzer didn't die...alone. He died WITH Celes as soon as I killed that 40k HP dude on the third tier of the fight. So the only one I had to fight Kefka with was my little Imp Edgar. Razz

Well, he did it. ON HIS OWN. It's funny, how many of Kefka's attacks did no damage at all to my little Imp. He did some sort of Quad-Jump thingie at the end, even though he didn't have to because Kefka had only a little more than 20000 HP by then and each jump does 9999 damage (OMG that's liek MAX!).

And I didn't know about that strategy for MagiMaster...I thought NOTHING could stop the ultimate magic, not even the all-powerful Runic!

Runic can stop ANY magic... I tell you coz it happened to me more than once that I used Runic and I gave 1MP from Terra and restored 80MP to Celes, but I donīt like doing it though... I like Osmose better Twisted Evil

Kefka has little HP if you compare it to your super strong attacks. His only dangerous technique is Vacumn Wave, that can be reduced with 255 def to 1 damage, but unless you have HIGH def, it will deal awesome damage.

You know, the game got boring when I played it the first time, because it came down to casting Ultema like crazy with everyone. Razz

Now, it's more fun because there IS no Ultema! Now, I'm going to use Graviga instead...I can't believe I didn't have it when I first fought Kefka in this challenge.

Now, lets see how easy this boss is, now that my characters are way higher levels.... Wink
