Sony Hates Gamers
if they do this. they are handing the market over to nintendo and microsoft. seriously. only the craziest of hardcore fans will still buy a PS3 after this.

I heard about this before, but it doesn't concern me since I buy everything brand new anyway. I am sure other companies will use the same technique if it is successful. Don't forget that they are all in it for the money, so I am sure M$ may offer the same thing in the future. I probably stand alone on what I am about to say, but I do not understand how some people freak out that they have to pay an extra $20 or whatever. If people were homeless and couldn't get a job then I would understand, but if people spend $400 or more on a console, why cry about games costing $30 - 50?
I have been working since I was 12 years old and always making my own money, that is probably why I feel that way.

a few things that prevent this thing from being a good idea:
1: My PS2 broke way too often. with this new technology, i'd have to rebuy all of my games if my console broke and had to be replaced.
2: Part of the cost of $50 of buying a game is supplimented by selling it later on ebay for about $20 a year later. now we cant do that.
3: PS3 are going to cost $70-$80 each. no way in hell am i going to pay more for a game that im not sure about being good and knowing that im stuck with the game for good.
some people, who have the money wont care, but those of us who save up for a YEAR to affoard just one of the next gen consoles will be angry. especially since if it takes them a year to save up $500 for the console. then it means they can buy a game about every 2.5 months. and thats it. nothing else.
i used to think that sony will still have the largest marketshare in the next console war. but if they do this its suicide.

well... i think it would have to be game specific. it wouldnt really have anything to do with the ps3 hardware, it would be the choice of the developers, much like the music industry. if enough ppl go against it, it wont happen.

My consoles never broke since I always took care of them. If it does break I am sure you can get it repaired. Wait is this just a rumor? Then I am sure they have considered the possibilities of a console breaking and a game not being able to play on it, so I am sure there is something more to that.
They want to make money not scare people away, plus I am sure someone will create a hack to make all games work on all consoles anyway. Plus PSO for the Dreamcast had all of the serials and saved other info and all types of things to prevent duplication or playing it or using the same key on another console, and it never scared gamers away or caused major problems.
I had a problem with the game one time and I called support and they made my account active since I bought another new console and provided evidence. Never believe the media when it comes to speculation, they say what they can to get publicity. Especially on the internet that was probably written by an employee of M$. All you have to do is scare people away and say how great your console is and gullible people will believe it.

you have some good points.
but the whole "probably written by an employee of M$" which really isint quite fair. frankly just assuming that any kind of bad news or disappointing news about the PS3 is made up by microsoft is just rude.
there are ways that sony can make this work so that if the console broke or various other issues. but my main problem with it is if it comes true. then the price of PS3 games will stay at an inflated cost long after the release.

You have a lot to learn about life  If you have millions or billions of dollars at stake, you are willing to do anything to come out on top. They can pay anyone off since it is pocket change to them and a fortune to whoever is getting bribed.
If someone came by your house and gave you $25,000 to make the Xbox look good you would jump on it. Not saying that this was or always is the case, but if you think that bribery doesn't exist in this world then you have a lot to learn. Just this simple article may have you and others to not get a PS3, and probably decide to get an Xbox 360 instead. Look how much money M$ would have gained from that. We live in a cruel world man and it will never change as long as people will believe the hype, and it looks that will never change soon.
Sony is probably using the same tactics as well, I am not blaming it all on M$ I am sure all of them do it.

The only way im not buying the console is from what my friends who ARE buying it tell me.
I do know bribery happens in this day and age. i also know that claiming that everything IS bribery is also just as foolish as thinking that bribery doesnt exist. im not buying any console at launch. ill find out what part of the hype came true about the console and then ill buy it.
Same with the PS3. if this rumor isint true. then i might still buy a PS3. frankly i dont think any other person would not buy a console due to an article. i think they would wait for the release and see if the article was true or not and then go from there.

Who claimed that everything IS bribery? I said "...Not saying that this was or always is the case" and yes I see things with my own eyes and make a decision then. I could go to major press release and print an article that Thorlord claims that anyone who thinks that bribery exists is foolish and encourages people not to purchase a PS3. Even though that is not true, if you were a famous person it would cause a lot of topics like these to be created from people saying that it is true. "Holy s**t. Thorlord has gone INSANE, Thorlord hates skeptics" are the types of topics that will be created just like this one.

That was on Yahoo News, Google News, everywhere. So I never put any trust into anything said on the internet, I could say anything I wanted to as long as it is legal and put it on thousands of sites for people to read. BTW that press release is stating all facts, that was just an example to show you that it is possible to share any info that you want on major networks.
