Roles and Gambits
I'm looking for some advice.
Since you're allowed 3 people (minus any guest) at one time. So I have them split up in two groups and figure each group needs a Tank, Mage, and Ranged person.
Tanks (leaders):
Vaan & Basch
(Gambits)
Ally: HP Crit - First Aid
Ally: Any - Raise
Ally: HP < 40% - Potion
Foe: HP = 100% - Steal
Foe: Nearest = Attack
Mages:
Ashe & Penelo
(Gambits)
Ally: HP Crit - First Aid
Ally: Any - Raise
Ally: Any - Poisona
Ally: Any - Blindna
Ally: Any - Vox
Ally: Any - Stona
Ally: HP < 70% - Cura
Ally: HP < 70% - Cure
Ally: HP < 70% - Potion
Foe: Party leaders target - Attack
Ranged:
Balthier & Fran
(Gambits)
Ally: HP Crit - First Aid
Ally: Any - Raise
Ally: HP < 50% - Cura
Ally: HP < 50% - Cure
Ally: HP < 50% - Potion
Foe: Party leaders target - Attack
Now i'm assuming that there are some people who are doing the same thing but i'd like some suggestions on what to do to make it better as i think i'm under utilizing the Ranged people. I mean all they do is stand back taking shots and healing when everyone else is out of MP.
And I'm at the point where I just got everyone on the team and off the Dreadnought Leviathan. I'm farming for Gil in the Lhusu Mines/Shunia Twinspan(1) to get all the Monographs...also the LPs dont hurt either.
(and it's a good place to hunt upto lvl 20 if anyone's interested)

by the end of the game you'll probably be using balthier as a tank btw^^
but it looks good but soon you might wanna have curaga(once u get it) at the top of everyone's list

It looks a good way to me....
For me: one of the three people in the party do all the healing things and the other two attack or cast magic on the enemy.

They make no sense to me... The big one I don't do is the "hp crit -> first aid" you should never let them get that low so that gambit shouldn't even be in your reportoire. also Ally: Any -> Esuna is of great help.

the esuna at low lvls can really hurt your mp for things that can be cured w/blindna etc.

I found out that if i switch up and have the Healers also the ranged then it works a little better because they're not taking damage, just dealing and healing.
But what to do with that third one. should i have 2 ranged or 2 tanks? or should i delegate one to using just technicks or have one blowing MP trying to status the enemies?
What would you suggest? I've already got the Tank, starts off with a steal then sttack attack attack. The ranged healer who plucks them off from a distance and heals. so the next one...?
(and i have First aid because sometimes you need the extra few seconds it buys you to get off the cura or final hit. basiclly it's just a stall technic but it works well.)

i got all my characters on the pretty same lvl and status so they're flexible..either way works...

same here, but i'm at the early levels. i wanted to get a game plan started now. plus i wanted to have something in place that couldn't be discribed at an "angry mob"

All my characters are very well rounded, except Vaan with the zodiac spear, he does woobles more damage than anyone else.

my gambits are basically like: attack attack lmao
I have no probs
I'd use a tank meaning high Def, and then a dmg dealer and long/healer
