Did you know that each mage has different magic power? Summoners are the most powerful, followed by black mages, white mages and the pathetic red mages.
When you use the ability of another class, you inherit that class' best powers. Eg. if you equip a character with Dash, he will have the Agility of a Thief - super fast! Best combined with a slow class like Monk or Berserker.
Now, consider when you equip a Monk (no magic power) with X-Magic (red mages' final ability) - he will get the Red Mages' magic power. Er, not very good...
Consider instead if you equip your Black Mage or your Summoner with X-Magic...

I used 4 Mimics, one of them with Summon, and another with White Magic, so I could heal myself against Exdeath, and use Golem and Carbuncle... And when Neo-Exdeath appeared, I just pawned him with X-Magic+Bahamut, and then mimic that with the other characters, so that I casted 8 Bahamuts in just one turn 
I still didnīt beat neither of Omega and Shinryu
PD: DONīT DO THE BAHAMUT STRATEGY AGAINST EXDEATH, OR YOU WONīT BE ABLE TO USE IT AGAINST NEO-EXDEATH...

All I did for NeoX-Death was $Toss with Bartz and I mime'd it with every one else. It barely lasted 7 minutes.

Tried out using normal jobs on a replay... When I beat the game, I had Bartz as a main fighter, with jobs such as Knight, Mystic Knight or Samurai mastered.
Lenna mastered some magic classes, mainly White, Black and Time Mages, and also Summoner.
Krile had various classes, but was mainly physical... In the end, she was my main physical, with classes such as Ninja, Archer, Thief and Canoneer (FFV Advance only)
