i think it would have done better if Squaresoft just dident link it to the PS2/PC and give them their own servers on the XBL thus meaning that the only monthly fee to pay would be XBL fee.
but even if the game was free.
i still wouldent play it. its just not worth it.
its most definately the worst Final Fantasy game ever made (though i havent played FFX-2... i hear thats bad...)
FF11 is more rewarding of a game and good in its own way. instead of having be easy to level or gain anything you really actually do have to put effort into the game in order to get anything out of it. it starts out really slow and it then picks up in momentum and becomes alot of fun depending and who your friends are and if your not a complete dildo. its all about making friends like any FF before it keep that in mind and youll go places in the game. and if your on the valefor server send a tell to me and ill get you trained up to fight gilsellers and make a diff in the game economy.
