yah the slimline is ALOT better designed than the original PS2. it has a TON less flaws, generates alot less heat, and has a drive that pops up thus less moving parts and makes it harder to damage the DvD lazer. thus less DRE problems.
the slimline is really what the PS2 should have been. and if i EVER get a PS3, its going to be the PSthree as there is no way in hell i am going to purchase the base product as with the history of the console, its going to bug out...

lol. Every time i show someone my PStwo they are shocked at its smallness. It makes you think how they can make the same console (with an inbuilt modem thing) so much smaller.
Yeah I agree with the PSthree comment. But...Must...Resist...buying a brand new PS3

thank you for trying to summarize that 2 page response into a single line.
i never used the word sucks. i said nothing along the lines either, i believe my response was this:

ok my Inbox was cleared... hrm.
my response was more along the lines of saying that the first release model would have a ton of bugs, even more than the PS2 for the fact that we dont get the advantage of using the Japanese as beta testers.
remember how the PS2 came out in Japan about 6 months before the american/european release? yah, we got a model that was more refined and fixed than the one that the japanese got. and it STILL had a ton of bugs.
THEN you consiter that its going to be a global launch, of a product using 100% new hardware designed entirely by sony. AND we dont even have the benefit of using the Japanese as our gunie pigs to test the product.
the overheating thing i did mention, but makes little difference, i had said that one of the reasons that the console was delayed is due to a Dev kit actually melting back in January. but that was january, and frankly, sony cant sell a console that melts without getting sued bigtime.
anyway, i summarized it by saing to wait a year after the launch, or more to have not just the price to go down, but to also give a very large library of games to choose from (at discounted prices) AND to get a console that will have a much longer lifespan than that of the launch consoles.
