I think FFVIII due to the fact that the characters looked so much like people... all on a psone...

the jump from the character appearances from 7 to 8 was huge... they were normal sizes.. and in proprtion to the towns! Squall wasn't the same size as a village, like Cloud was in 7! (Kalm town... cloud is not only the same height as the whole town on the world map, but he was about as large width-wise as one of the houses)

Yes, but I feel FFVIII, or at least, it had the greatest graphic improvement. It went from big heads and other crud-ish looking stuff, to realistic human beings with normal sized heads, mouth, and noses! I think that's the best for it's time if you ask me.

I think III had excellent graphics for the Nintendo. VI was pretty nice on the Snes. VII was great on PSone when it came out.

I would say FFIX because the question centers around "for its time". FFX obviously had the best graphics out of all of the games, but for it's time they were merely above average. FFIX was really phenomenal considering the other games that came out around that time.

I agree with Kertova. I think the game that had the best graphics for its time was FFVIII, because the people looked very realistic and the background art was incredible.
