Wireless N

hrm..
aparently a format won out.. anyone want to guess who's 'Draft N' bult becomes the standard?

Linksys won out and their N technology is now the standard, the 'Draft N' will have a patch to update the routers to the standard N design.

i dont know if anyone knows what im talking about.. basicly there are now 4 different types of wireless internet (5 if you count the kind that Verison has that can be accessed anywhere.... for the absured cost of $60 a month)
the four types are:
Wireless A: 54mbps connection. 5.8ghz signal, non-uniform standard, was difficult for many people to use as it dident penetrate walls well. rarely used now adays, if any device supports it, its only because of backwards compatability. even though now adays the one problem with A (non-uniformatively across brands) is no longer a problem.
Wireless B: 11mbps connection. a 2.4 ghz signal that did penetrate walls better and was a format that crossed brands much easier than A.
Wireless G: 54mbps connection 2.4 ghz signal. a much faster signal, slightly farther range than wireless B but not too much. walls are still kinda a problem. but its fast enough so that you dont have to care if you are on a network or not to see preformance differences while on the internet. the main advantage of this was the increased speed.

Wireless N: ok before i tell you how fast it is, i want to let you know that it doesnt make too much of a difference. the true advantage of N is its MUCH wider area of coverage. which means two things: Your whole house is easily covered no problem; And your neighbors can easily steal your internet (and random strangers too!) Speed: 100-200 Mbps, which is more than a wired connection gives you.

it supprised the crap out of me and the other tech today when our boss told us that we had to do some new E-Learnings about the new wireless technology... we said F*** that as we are trying to pass the GOD IMPOSSIBLE Microsoft Certification (MCSE)
