Awesome Wii Ideas
the nintendo Wii is awesome, but now its time for us to let go of our own ideas for the console.
1: since the wiimote has a built in speaker. a nice feature would be that on the back of the console, is a button, and when pressed will cause your wiimote to make a loud noise so you can find it if you lose it. (vibration too)
2: a GREAT combo would be to include along side the wiimote, is a camera on the qualiy of what will be released on the 360 (3d sensing) why would this help? you could use BOTH the remote and your body to interact with the game. (imagine a starwars game where you fight with the lightsaber, and then to force push you put your hand foreward. or to force pull you make a claw and bring it toward you. that would be badass, pull a guy at you, and as he is flying at you cut him with the sabre with your other hand)
3: an advantage to the wii is that the console can figure out where the player is in the room. with proper configuration, combing this with surround sound would lead to some awesome opportunaties. with surround sound that would change its configuration depending on where you are in the room. (so you could have constant surround sound no-matter where you are)
4: a proximity game, has NO visuals, but rather you have to locate collectable objects by moving your controller around your room. there could be enemies and if they got close the surround sound would make a noise. maybe better if combined with surround sound. if you DONT have surround sound, then the controller will make a noise, it may be harder to figure out where the enemy is. but would still be awesome. actually if they added the idea from #2, then the camera would add the objects in your house into the game, so you wouldent be bumping into stuff (have the controller vibrate if it gets close to either an object, or outside of the playing area)
5: remember that game for the gamecube that made you think you were insane? imagine something on that scale but with as much interactivity you get on the Wii. for instance, your controller whispers at you, ever so quietly, using idea #3 with perfect surround sound, have voices behind your head, or high quality sound to make it sound like somone screaming, maybe make it so realistic, it might sound like a neighbor. heck maybe add the insanity of inepititude, like it will require a very precice aiming, and it would shake the controller right before you shoot and make everything slowmotion (just a little bit)
6: my last idea, combine it with that camera idea (3d cameras with controller) you could make a game that REQUIRES that you use dual Wiimotes in the lightgun formation. the game would be a gunfight, and the sound of your gun firing would be JUST from your controler. and using the camera, and the wiimote to figure out where you are standing, you could only dodge by physically moving out of the way. Combine this with surround sound, you could hear the bullets flying by you, and you firing back.
got any ideas yourself for the Wii hardware and its possibilities? go ahead and post em. i love the idea that we can value a console by how interactive it is, rather than how powerful it is. (though some of these ideas may be CPU intensive)
