physx cards
anyone seen or does anyone have a physx card , they seem very good on paper but arnt that good in reality as there isnt a game out yet to fully make use of its potential. and very pricey to boot. great for explosions but not really qworth shelling out $400 for just yet.

$400? where the hell did you find that price?
$297 on Newegg.
the games that use it now, dont use it very well. if you have a Dualcore PC you can emulate the PhysX card easily for your games to have almost the same effects (a few things dont look as cool, like liquids and smoke effects)
the need for a PhysX card will arise when games start using Dual-Core CPU's better, and find that having all the physic's done on a PCI card will be much more efficient to have done.
my guess: 1.25 years from now.. so July 2007

the price was from a mate who got one , im not sure where he got it but yes the games around at the moment dont utilise it good enough to justify purchase , explosions and smoke look incedible with one of these installed. a new title soon to be released called hanger of doom will really make good use of this card , the r and d team for the title has been working in conjuncetion with bfg to get the game coded optimally for the card.

your friend paid too much then 
like i said im waiting, im saving up cash, and when vista comes out im going to be building a whole new computer to actually support that beast of a *.
im talking nvidia 8800's SLI (ok they dont exist... YET!)

yeah i know but prices on components vary hugely. i have too many systemslyin around to even dream of buildin a newen for myself , im currently doing upgrades and builds in my local area and until i finish the jbs i ave on the go now i wont have the room or time to consider a personal build.
